James Huntley presidentJames Huntley has been a veteran Traffic Enforcement Agent for the past 23 years patrolling the streets of New York CityMr. Huntley has been married for 12 years and has 4 children.  He became a Traffic Enforcement Agent in August 1982 when the agency was a part of the Department of Transportation.  He was first working out of the T-109 Command at 30-30 Thompson Street in Long Island City, Queens and is currently working out of the T.I.U (Traffic Investigation Unit) 502 Command at 330 West 34th Street in Manhattan. 

 

Before becoming the current President of Local 1182, he was an office delegate out of T-109.  He later became Delegate at Large for the borough of Manhattan.  He was Executive Vice-President for 11 years.  As Executive Vice President he coordinated Executive Board activities, was in charge of Command Disciplines, Grievances and Step III hearings. He was the union liaison to the Mayor’s Office, The City Council, and for Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.  He was also the contact officer for the Director of Traffic Division Chief Mike Scagnelli, and Director of Labor Relations for Sanitation Eugene Egan. Mr. Huntley took the office of President in January 2006

 

James Huntley studied Security Management at John Jay College in New York, NY, Labor Studies at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, Communications and Media at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY & Pre-Law at Duchess Community College, which is also located in Poughkeepsie, NY.

 

James Huntley was a NYPD Auxiliary Police Officer for 2 years.  He currently has Peace Officer Status as well as Special Patrolman Status.  He is also a community activist who is a strong believer in equality, respect, and better treatment for all members of Local 1182.
